Dancers dressed in brocade and wearing masks of wrathful deities represent the entourage of one aspect of Guru Rinpoche, Guru Dorje Droloe, who leads the dance. Armed with ritual daggers (phurpa), the dancers execute and redeem an evil spirit by liberating its conscious principle from its body.
